Concrete coring is a process that uses a specialised rotating drill bit to remove cylindrical cores from existing concrete structures. Core drilling is often required when installing electrical and plumbing lines, as well as for creating access points for other types of construction projects. Concrete cores are also used for testing the actual properties of concrete in existing structures such as strength, permeability, chemical analysis, and carbonation.
Concrete core drilling is a technique used when you require a hole in reinforced concrete, precast concrete, asphalt, brick and other structural materials. We offer a range from 10mm to 1100mm diameter. Vertical, horizontal, angle and inverted drilling are all part of our core drilling capabilities. We use electric and hydraulic equipment which enables us to perform various forms of specialist drilling. Water is continuously fed through the centre of the core drill bit to cool both the bit and the surrounding area to prevent overheating.
Diamond core drills are designed so that the drilling does not damage the surrounding structure or cause any vibration. It is much less invasive than other concrete cutting techniques such as jack hammering or wall sawing. Core drilling creates less dust and debris and produces neater and more precise holes. In addition, diamond core drilling can be done in occupied spaces with minimal disruption.
